BEAUTIFUL MORNING!!!!

Princess Belle and the Birthday girl!

What a BEAUTIFUL morning for a drive! The sun was just coming up on the horizon cast the most gorgeous pink glow on the mountains to the west! Getting up so early for a birthday party was unusual. This was a great idea the client had. The kids had a slumber party and I was to be a surprise in the morning!! I love surprises!  Imagine my delight when, as was arranged prior to me arriving, I waltzed in stretching my arms, yawning and pretending to have slept in my car! HAHAHAHAHAHA!

The look on all the kids faces was PRICELESS! I wore some beautiful, although very large, red satin pajamas with glue piping, collar and cuffs. As I stretched, the birthday girl was really beginning to smile. Her friends had the most awesome look of, "WHAT? WHO? is that?" on their face! I told them I had fallen asleep in the car, why had they not woken me up to have come inside the night before? LOL Oh, I had so much fun with them all!

I proceeded to make all of them a balloon sculpture and receive a whole lot of giggles! We all had a lot of fun while they ate their breakfast....and mostly played with balloons and laughing at me! Grandpa got in to the game also. He strolled up to me and let me know that my ride was almost there. Oh, my, what was next? He turned me around, pointed at the horizon and said, "Look...there it is!" HA! I turned to see a Hot Air Balloon! Of course, we both had the kids convinced that really was how I was going to leave!

Next time you want to have a lot of fun at a party, call me. Let me know who needs a laugh. Who should be celebrated? What would you like to convey? All can be done with balloons! Uniquely Twisted Balloons will twist it, bring along a smile, deliver with a flourish and fun!
Thank you for all the creative moms out there with great ideas! I appreciate all of you! I love such happiness so early on a Sunday morning!

Think ahead!

Think Ahead. Simple to type, sure. Simple to do? Not so much in our busy lives.

What event in the future could be enhanced with color? Which one could be enhanced with Uniquely Twisted Balloons in color? Many of them I'm sure...heck, ALL of them! LOL

Many potential clients ask me how far in advance they should call in order to book my services as an entertainer. My answer has always been, "As soon as you know the date...." Your child's birthday happens the same day every year doesn't it? I know we are all busy. I know how fast time seems to fly. When certain dates happen every year, they seem to be easier to forget. I know, ask my sisters if I ever remember their birthday? LOL Same day every year. Still, I forget the closer it gets to the actual day.

Let Uniquely Twisted Balloons take the worry from your list. Call me. Call me today. Call me tomorrow. Just call me. I will then place you in my trusty Blackberry calendar and have the date saved. I will check that date each month in order to remind myself how much fun and what Uniquely Twisted balloon I will make for your child. I will also touch base with you and learn details as we arrive closer to the day of your party.

The sooner you call the better time you will have during my day. Many times I have 3 events in one day. If you call me first.....YOU get the most of my energy!! YOU get the best sculpture as I have more time to make it. YOU have first right of refusal if others call for that day and time.

The early bird gets the worm.....and the most Uniquely Twisted Balloon!

Options! We all love to have options. Choices.....the more the better!! Sometimes. Ha! Does your child's birthday fall during the week? Would you LOVE to send a UNIQUELY TWISTED gift to express how much you care? Birthday, Graduation, Thank you, Happy Anniversary, or what ever message you wish...Uniquely Twisted Balloons will create a sculpture to fit your needs and deliver with a flourish!

If you do not relish the idea of hosting a group of kids in your house or are out of town, send a balloon!! I deliver with personality and a HUGE SMILE! Uniquely Twisted Balloons loves to create and deliver your message.

This is one of my favorites. Why? Because when I was twisting in a Chili's Bar and Grill one Sunday evening, a young girl was excitedly watching for me to arrive at her table. She had a look on her face I knew well. It was the, "I'm gonna stump you, I'm gonna stump you!", look! LOL

When it was her turn, she said in a very excited yet matter of fact tone, (she KNEW she was going to stump me this time), "I want a Dachshund dressed in a hot dog costume!!!" I simply replied, "I thought you were going to stump me?"

Imagine my delight at the look on her face. All at the same time she was happy to get the balloon she wanted and yet upset she did not stump me! What a riot!! I'm also glad she likes mustard and relish on her hot dog! LOL LOL

Too old for a balloon??? Think again! Ha!

No one is too old to have fun with balloons creations! Can you guess who is the Birthday boy at young 60 years?? His friend loved scuba diving so I set him up also! At www.SuZalloonZ.com birthday parties are fun for all ages!

Flutterbys!

I love this picture! This was taken at Kuni Honda in Centennial, Colorado when I was there every Friday. Two young girls had just met and were giggling like crazy holding these two Flutterbys...because you all know that Butter Flies when you throw it out the window! LOL

WHAT??? REALLY??? LOL

Hey All!

Well, here I go again. The blogger in me has surfaced. Hmmmmm....today's topic? What about short attention spans...and I don't mean in 2 year olds! LOL

WHAT????? REALLY?????

I'm not sure about all of you. I have become a bit shocked at today's hysterics over......well, anything it seems! Technology is great. However, it seems to have created an even shorter attention spans. And not only in children...in adults...who in turn teach their children. How many of you have stopped using your cell phone in your car? AT ALL????? Not me. I admit. No, I DO NOT text in my car...unless it is at a very long light and I have a very short response.

I went one full day without using my cell phone in my car one day running errands. Because I run my business from home, I wondered what would happen. Well, the day I did not return calls at stoplights or in parking lots I actually lost business. I had a call for an event. I returned the call a few hours after it was received. The response? "I found someone else"

WHAT????? REALLY?????

Imagine my frustration? The truth is...in this day of instant gratification, instant response, instant everything....simple tasks, simple manners really, take on new meaning. I chose to be responsible driving that day. I would hope that if someone wanted to hire me they would allow me time to respond to their request. Sure, I appreciate an immediate response when I make a phone call. If it is a call to someone or some business I believe to be important, I WILL allow them time to return my call before looking elsewhere.

The type of business I am in requires human contact, human interaction, human responses. I respect that when I call someone, anyone, I do not know what they are doing when the phone rings. Sure, Caller ID allows us to make a choice to answer a call if we are indeed, in the middle of a task. If I get a call and know the person is a friend, I many choose to not answer and finish what I am doing. This allows the friend to leave a message and allows me to give them my full attention when I return the call.

Clients may think otherwise. If a client is someone who has been given a list of people to call and inquire simply about price, the secretary let's say, most likely does not care who answers, does not have enough knowledge about the subject to give a response or not time and will not leave a message. If only price matters, honestly, I will NOT be hired. If it is a client who has hired me in the past or has actually SEEN me perform, I hope they will allow me time to return their call understanding that I am human and may not be able to return a call INSTANTLY.

WHAT????? REALLY??????

Instant gratification. Short attention spans. They are not just for 2 year olds anymore.  Slow down. Take a breath. Hang up and Drive. Allow others to do the same. I do love the old phrase, "Your lack of planning does not constitute an emergency on my part." I will make every effort to return calls, answer the phone, return an email as promptly as HUMANLY possible. Patience is a virtue. QUALITY IS worth waiting for, paying for, listening to and having. Instant gratification is not what I'm all about...unless it is when I go for a kid giggle while performing....kid giggles certainly give instant gratification to all within earshot!

I hope you will remember we are human beings. Sure, I am not able to live without my Blackberry. Mostly because it keeps my calender at my fingertips, allows me to have my office at my fingertips and take with me. I don't have it in order to talk on the phone 24/7 or while I am driving.

Have a wonderful day. Stop and smell the lilacs. Enjoy a long walk. Pet your dog. Hug your child. Slow down.

It's The Balloon Lady Arrives.....right now!

Well, imagine my surprise when I said to a friend, "If you help me fix my Peachtree accounting system problem I will begin a blog. Well, you guessed it, she fixed my invoice problem so here is my first blog! I keep my promises.

My name is Suzanne Lively. I am a professional balloon twister/entertainer/dog lover/friend/sister/aunt....okay, I'm only a professional balloon twister and entertainer. Let me know what you think of balloons. What do you want to know about entertaining children? How should you plan your party? I've been twisting and entertaining for almost 15 years in the Denver Metro area. Ask me. I will make an honest attempt at a reasonable answer. Humor will be interjected randomly of course.

If you would like to watch me twist and entertain you can find me every Tuesday at Old Chicago on 120th and Sheridan in Broomfield, Colorado from 5:45-7:45 pm for Kid's Night. Kid's make their own pizza and I get to twist balloons and receive hugs from my regular visitors! The second Monday of each month I can be found at Chick Fil A at Riverpoint in Littleton at Sante Fe and Oxford from 5:30-7:30. Kids can do crafts  and get a custom balloon sculpture from ME! Ha! I'd love to have all of you show up and have some fun and great food.

Enjoy my first post about promises.

Keeping promises.

Client calls. I answer. They ask for a date and time. I set that date and time aside. That is my promise to them. Their promise to me is to open the door, allow me in to entertain or deliver, then hand me a form of payment. Promise kept. Imagine how difficult it is to have a client call to inform me their child has a 102 temperature. Or. they realize they have way, way too  much going on that day afterall and cancel my appearance. Promise broken. I've held that date for them. I used to be so busy I enjoyed an accidental Saturday or Sunday off. Not anymore. Not in this economy.

Promises. I grew up learning to keep them. I was taught that a handshake while looking into a person's eyes was your word. I'm told by colleagues that I should require non refundable deposits. This will allow me to at least make some money in the event of a cancellation. Maybe I'm too honest. I understand that sick child. I understand a busy life.  I may learn. I may not. I will promise to show up when you ask. I will hold the day you asked for.

I ask of you, the potential client, understand I am a sole proprietor. I alone am responsible for paying many of the same bills you pay each month. I don't get paid sick days. I don't get vacation time. My weekends are usually Wednesday and Thursday. When you change your mind, when you cancel an event, I have not found a way to say yes to more than one person for the same day and same time. I am now out of work, at least for that day or weekend. Be respectful of my time as I will be of yours. I will show up on time. I will bring what I have been asked to bring. I will cause much laughter and many smiles.

Thank you for reading this. Let me know what you would like to learn from Your Balloon Lady. I should call this blog, Your Balloon Lady...I realized that is usually what I say when I return a call. "Hi, It's Suzanne, your balloon lady....." LOL LOL I certainly answer to and excited, "BALLOON LADY BALLOON LADY" when screamed by many children! I love it!

Right now you can go to Uniquely Twisted BalloonZ by SuZalloonZ on Facebook or look up Suzanne Lively. I have many recent pictures posted of my creations. I have attended 8 International Balloon Conventions in the last 7 years. I love to create custom balloon sculptures for deliveries and birthday party gifts as a surprise for anyone. What would you like to say with a balloon?

I promise to create a Uniquely Twisted Balloon for any event. Thank you. I have kept my promise to a dear friend. I will keep my promise to you.
