Well, imagine my surprise when I said to a friend, "If you help me fix my Peachtree accounting system problem I will begin a blog. Well, you guessed it, she fixed my invoice problem so here is my first blog! I keep my promises.
My name is Suzanne Lively. I am a professional balloon twister/entertainer/dog lover/friend/sister/aunt....okay, I'm only a professional balloon twister and entertainer. Let me know what you think of balloons. What do you want to know about entertaining children? How should you plan your party? I've been twisting and entertaining for almost 15 years in the Denver Metro area. Ask me. I will make an honest attempt at a reasonable answer. Humor will be interjected randomly of course.
If you would like to watch me twist and entertain you can find me every Tuesday at Old Chicago on 120th and Sheridan in Broomfield, Colorado from 5:45-7:45 pm for Kid's Night. Kid's make their own pizza and I get to twist balloons and receive hugs from my regular visitors! The second Monday of each month I can be found at Chick Fil A at Riverpoint in Littleton at Sante Fe and Oxford from 5:30-7:30. Kids can do crafts and get a custom balloon sculpture from ME! Ha! I'd love to have all of you show up and have some fun and great food.
Enjoy my first post about promises.
Keeping promises.
Client calls. I answer. They ask for a date and time. I set that date and time aside. That is my promise to them. Their promise to me is to open the door, allow me in to entertain or deliver, then hand me a form of payment. Promise kept. Imagine how difficult it is to have a client call to inform me their child has a 102 temperature. Or. they realize they have way, way too much going on that day afterall and cancel my appearance. Promise broken. I've held that date for them. I used to be so busy I enjoyed an accidental Saturday or Sunday off. Not anymore. Not in this economy.
Promises. I grew up learning to keep them. I was taught that a handshake while looking into a person's eyes was your word. I'm told by colleagues that I should require non refundable deposits. This will allow me to at least make some money in the event of a cancellation. Maybe I'm too honest. I understand that sick child. I understand a busy life. I may learn. I may not. I will promise to show up when you ask. I will hold the day you asked for.
I ask of you, the potential client, understand I am a sole proprietor. I alone am responsible for paying many of the same bills you pay each month. I don't get paid sick days. I don't get vacation time. My weekends are usually Wednesday and Thursday. When you change your mind, when you cancel an event, I have not found a way to say yes to more than one person for the same day and same time. I am now out of work, at least for that day or weekend. Be respectful of my time as I will be of yours. I will show up on time. I will bring what I have been asked to bring. I will cause much laughter and many smiles.
Thank you for reading this. Let me know what you would like to learn from Your Balloon Lady. I should call this blog, Your Balloon Lady...I realized that is usually what I say when I return a call. "Hi, It's Suzanne, your balloon lady....." LOL LOL I certainly answer to and excited, "BALLOON LADY BALLOON LADY" when screamed by many children! I love it!
Right now you can go to Uniquely Twisted BalloonZ by SuZalloonZ on Facebook or look up Suzanne Lively. I have many recent pictures posted of my creations. I have attended 8 International Balloon Conventions in the last 7 years. I love to create custom balloon sculptures for deliveries and birthday party gifts as a surprise for anyone. What would you like to say with a balloon?
I promise to create a Uniquely Twisted Balloon for any event. Thank you. I have kept my promise to a dear friend. I will keep my promise to you.
